Very simple. First, begin with what you want your brand to be. What visual do you think would help tell others what your company does? Brainstorm a little if you can so you share your ideas with the designer.
I have used Crowdspring, 99designs, and Fiverr for projects like this. I have found Crowdspring to be really easy to work with and the designs I got were amazing.
