What type of business agreement would allow me to assign a percentage of ownership to someone who will become a partner, without that person contributing financially to the startup?
A Partnership agreement that just lays out exactly what you have stated. I am giving John Doe 30% (whatever number it is) in my business and John Doe agrees to do A, B and C to receive this. IF JOHN DOE DOES NOT DO AND OR CONTINUE TO DO THESE RESPONSIBILITIES HE WILL NOT BE A PARTNER IN THIS BUSINESS AND LOSE HIS SHARES OF OWNERSHIP.
