Procrastination

You’re constantly putting off things you know you need to do. A lot of people I talk to are really excited by an idea they have and then when I reconnect with them at a later time…they’re like…”well, ya know..I was going to do it but…”. They’re putting off the things that will lead them to success.

Start each day with a small win, whether it’s making your bed, exercise, or plan your day.

Negative Thinking

Nothing is more draining than being around someone who is negative. Our thoughts have an impact on our success. Is how you think negative or positive and do you talk in a positive way, as if good things will happen? When I plan each day, I think about it in a positive way. It doesn’t mean that there won’t be negative outcomes, but thinking about it in a negative way accomplishes nothing!

Lack of Discipline

Do you know what you need to do and do you take action on it? How do others view your discipline? When my partners ask me to do something, they I’m going to get it done and most likely quicker than they expected it to.

Does that discipline carry over into your physical self? We don’t like to think people judge us by looks but they do. If you don’t look like you’re physically disciplined, it could have an effect in how your team and clients view you.

Poor Time Management

Do you schedule your day? Do your schedule your day well? Do you have a strategy or do you let your day take control of you?

I schedule my day usually the night before. What are your top goals for the day? What are the big dominos I need to knock down. I don’t want to get to the end of the day and realize I didn’t manage my day well.

Lack of Self-Care

This is physical and mental wellbeing. Are you taking care of yourself? You should. You only get one-crack at this body and life.

Lack of Focus

If a genie came up and asked you what you most want to achieve this year, would you be able to articulate it? The ability to focus on what is most important and not be distracted by the urgent is paramount. List your focuses.

Inability to Adapt/Change

Are you open to change? Are you still who you were five years ago? I encourage you to look at where you are at now and think about who you want to be and where you want to be years from now. Great leaders change before they have to. Changes occur in your personal life, your company, and your industry.

Lack of Accountability

The only person you have to blame for anybody is yourself. Do you take responsibility? At the end of the day, it’s down to you. Move forward with a strategy and a plan.

Inability to Accept Criticism

You are unwilling to learn from someone else critiquing you. Accept it and find something in there you can grab hold of and learn from, even if it comes from your enemies!

Lack of Gratitude

Every day I try to be grateful for three things that are unrelated to money. Sometimes I hear the birds and I’m just grateful I can hear!

I try not to put my feet on the floor until I’ve expressed gratitude. It’s hard to be angry and grateful at the same time!.
